Another Posing Question: Bathtubs

Internet--we're hopeless! Apparently everyone has this issue with their knives, but the only suggestion came from Kelley who said to cut an onion with them. At least that's what she heard. If you have any other suggestions, PLEASE go over there and let us all know.

Today, I have another question. I know, I know, I've been a bit needy lately. But I promise that tomorrow I have some funny pictures that will make it all worthwhile. Just you wait!

My (whisper) bathtubs are a bit dirty. You see, they have this shady gray stain like around the bottom. I clean my bathtubs, really I do! I'm probably the most freakishly clean person you know, or read. Anyway, I can't seem to get rid of this no matter what I do. I scrub with cleaners and I've used brushes and it's still there. Help me Internet! Oh, I think my bathtubs are just the plastic-ish kind if that helps. They're all this way and all have that gunky residue even the ones that are only used when guests visit. Please Internet, I'm imploring more assistance.

There is a powder cleaner call the "bar keepers...." I forget what the last part is. Not sure if you have tried that. I LOVE IT. It makes my bathtub sparkle.

Here's a really strange suggestion, but it works like a charm!
Use Bounce sheets (or any dryer sheet) that has been used in the dryer. Just get it wet and scrub a little and it'll clean off all the soap scum - I have found a cleaner that works better than this!

BTW - Hi, I'm Angela, I blog too :-) Email me at angelarae@shaw.ca if you want an invite to my blog!

Sorry I can't help. I'm pretty domestically challenged...especially of late.

I think it's so cute that you and Brittny have a crush on each other. I hope it works out between the two of you. LOL!

Seriously though I am totally jealous of all these fabulous Summer Swap gifts. Next time around I shouldn't be nearly as preoccupied and I'll definitely participate!

Personally I love Zep to clean the bathroom. It doesn't smell to horribly bad and it cleans great. I know you can get it at Home Depot, but not sure about other stores.

Also, I would like to be included in the next summer swap. Sounds like loads of fun!!

My sister loves Zep too! I've never tried it.
I've heard OxyClean is great.
If you run your hand over the ring and you can feel it (so it's raised up), then you can very CAREFULLY use a razor blad to remove it. Then clean with Zep or whatever.
Personally, I love SoftScrub With Bleach (that is one product, not SoftScrub followed by Bleach). Put it on and let it sit for about 3 minutes, then scrub off using the bristly scrubby side of a kitchen sponge - the type that say safe for teflon.

Good luck!

I was going to suggest soft scrub with bleach {if you're able to use this on your tub liner}. Sounds like some other ladies had some better suggestions, although I wouldn't want to scrape off soap scum with a razor blade! That sounds like wayy too much trouble.

My dh says we used "Iron Out", whatever that is??? He said it came from Lowe's.

I use CLR and it works great but sounds like you have gotten alot of other really good ideas. I may have to try some of them as well.

You can borrow my maid. She doesn't speak very good English, but I betcha those tubs would be sparkly in no time.

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work wonders. I could never find anything to clean out the pink stains in our tub (something with the water down her in Louisiana, our toilet does it too) and I used to spend a really long time trying to get it to look decent. It took ten minutes with the Erasers. They work wonders.

We have acrylic liners in our tub and I seem to have a problem with making it sparkle, too. I'll file all these away! Nothing worse than TUB GRIME! Especially when you have co0mpany.

p.s. We have white countertops and the new Soft Scrub gel is wonderful
