Anniversaries

J and I will celebrate our FIRST wedding anniversary next Sunday (29th). We were married in a state park and will most likely go there for hiking, picnicking, frolicking... The jury is still out as to if we're going to camp or not. We are going to make the tradition to be traditional with anniversary gifts as well. That said, I think the certification that goes with the diamonds in the anniversary band that I want counts as paper, yes? However our splurge will probably be our passports for our upcoming vacation. Exciting, I know.

Tell me what you did for your first anniversary and what your favorite anniversary memory or celebration has been. What do you do for gifts or do you even exchange gifts? What do you hope to get for your anniversary in the semi near future (*cough, honey I really love that anniversary band and it would look ever so lovely on my pretty little finger and also a manicure to go with it, cough!*) Anyone have creative suggestions for "paper" gifts for our first anniversary? I mean if you can think of something that I might like from J, he can read all about it in the comments.

We've never exchanged anniversary gifts, which is something I'm crabby about. Our 10-year is this fall, and I told him he really does have to buy a pretty-pretty for that.

For paper, I guess some options would be: book, art print....uh....Not much for paper, is there?

For our 1 year, we went to St. Louis. And, for "paper", I bought Matt "paper" tickets to a Cardnials baseball game.

I love the idea of "traditional" wedding gifts and hope we can stick with it. Honestly it makes it a bit easier to shop if you have some guidelines going in anyways.

For our first anniversary I had some books made at http://www.mypublisher.com/ one for our wedding and one for our anniversary. They came out gorgeously and make an amazing keepsake.

Toby very sweetly attempted for hours to make me some oragami roses. He ended up putting together a really cute scrapbook of our first year together complete with emails, cards, pictures, etc.

For our 1 year "paper" anniversary, he got me some non-paper stuff from VS (lotions, a sports bra), and some other things that I honestly can't recall right now. I did stick with the paper theme, and got him a book on dog training since he's really into training our German Shepherd, and as a "bookmark", 2 tickets (made out of paper) to see a concert he really wanted to see (and so did I).

Congrats on your first year! For our first year we took a trip to Gatlinburg and did everything you can do there. It was fun! I think that was our gift to each other. We've never done alot of gift exchanging except for dinner, cards, etc. As far as "paper" gift..I would just want a mag. subscription. I can never have too many.

I actually have no recollection... usually it is just a nice dinner out. I think I need to start the gift thing back up though.

Our first anniversary was spent with us enjoying a warm November in the Chicago area. We went to the resturant where we ate the night hubby proposed. I had just gotten out of the hospital the day before because I had a DVT. That was my gift being able to spend the anniversary ---NOT in the hospital.
We don't usually give anniversary gifts. It is a card and a special dinner together.

You forgot another important anniversary this weekend. It's the third anniversary of our Senior Pub Crawl. You should wear the t-shirt in commemoration and take jello shots. Nothing says romance like vodka and gelatin.

Happy Anniversary to you and Mr. M! I can't believe it's been an entire year already. It seems like only a few months ago. Wow!
